Bear With Me

You might remember that about a year ago....yes, a YEAR ago (don't judge!) we decided to take a break here at The Art of Being Conflicted.  I had come to the realization that I have a  personality that takes the "Go Big or Go Home" approach to all things I enjoy doing. This often translates to nothing else getting done.  You realize, of course, this tendency to let an activity take over my life is limited only to things I enjoy.  (usually these activities don't require much exertion.) It did apply to blogging. That led me to the point of taking some time off to readjust my time and priorities.

Remember this?

BUT here we are....Crabby is ready to get off the bench and is officially done with the whole "smelling the roses" thing.

blogs don't write themselves
As for the year off...you might be curious about all the wonderful, exciting things I managed to accomplished with all that time I saved by NOT immersing  myself in blog reading and writing.

In theory, I should of had "oodles" (technical term) of time that I could now reinvest in the pursuit of other activities.
With all that being said....I can't think of anything that stands out as being NEW and EXCITING. My life continues to be a very  good life and nothing has really changed.  Sure, I have been  spending less time in front of a computer which has allowed far more time with family and friends and that point can't be diminished in it's importance but still... I didn't take on the any amazing feats.

I can't think of anything really that rates as "truly astounding" or affords me  material for a major best seller extolling my amazing accomplishments.  I have more material pertaining to the things I DIDN'T do.

I didn't end up in (or under) any of the Kansas floods.  My house DIDN'T wash away. (knock on soggy wood) although I shouldn't count that out yet.  The rain is continuing to pour in the Midwest.

I, also didn't BLOW away.  I realize that many of you think...

                                       Kansas = Tornadoes

Not necessarily.

In the past year, I  haven't climbed Mount Everest or any other mountain for that matter.

AND, while this one might shock you...I didn't receive any major writing awards.

So as you can surmise, my friends, life is going along fine, if not a bit uneventful.

I will wean myself back onto blog (both writing and reading) and try to use a bit of discretion in the amount of time I spend doing it.

Great to see you back! I took a year off too and returned a few months ago. Like you, I may not have done anything new and exciting during my break, but it did feel good to reevaluate things.

Oh the many things I did while I took a short 3-4 week blog break. Actually, I'm different blogger now. No, make that an indifferent blogger. "Whenever" is my new non-schedule. Oh, I did hit the beach while I was off and it was sandy. I give you a willpower high-five for going a whole year without posting. Welcome back and I sure hope you have perfected and pumped-up your sarcasm and wit. Your posts were always good reads.

I think maybe the "non-schedule" is the way to go. I found that trying to post a certain number of times a week, added pressure that could be avoided by bogging when I am inspired and time allows.

I hope all is well with you. I will get back to reading blogs this week so I am sure I will catch up with you. My sarcasm and cynicism are growing like the weeds in a garden. I try to pluck them out and replace with "nothing but pleasantness" but they keep coming back.

So nice to hear from you. Thanks!

Yay, you're back!!!

I had the two months of Dec and Jan off and have done that for two years in a row and it's so good to get off the pc and not worry about getting out a blog post. That's why I decided to just post on Fridays now, Aus time, and it's been great. No hassles, only need one or several things to talk about, have days off to do other things, like take mum to doctors, or just work on new books and web things. It's great to take time off.

Lady Jewels...so nice to see your name come across my blog. I had the best intentions to only take a couple (or few) months off but then got started on some new projects. It remains unclear at this point, how often I will post but I have missed visiting with all of you. I guess I will see "what works" as I get back into the habit of blog writing and reading.

I know I sent a reply your way...where did it disappear to??? I am finding a few things with my blog aren't working quite right since my relaunch.

I am so glad you are back, as well. I really love your sense of humor.
