New Controversy Coming Out of Washington DC

Holy Moly...we have another HUGE controversy taking over Washington!!!!

You know, I typically try to avoid jumping into any topic relating to politics.  I have found there are a  few subjects just too volatile for my blog.  But for the purposes of today's post, I am jumping into the fray of a political firestorm.

Which storm, you ask?  There are several to pick from.

NO, not the Fiscal Cliff fiasco.  There were a some concessions reducing it's elevation a bit. Now it appears to be more of a Fiscal Gangplank.

NO, no juicy sex scandals for today.  (Be patient...I am sure you won't have to wait very long.)

NO, I am not even talking about the new pay raise for Congress.

OK...try one more time.

NO, wrong again.  I am not referring to the fact that the Fiscal Cliff debacle gave the algae growers $59 MILLION dollars in tax credits.  But to be fair....that is a great guess!

The big scandal this past week was regarding PHOTOSHOP!!!!!

Four women in Congress were late getting to a photo shoot and had to be Photoshopped into the picture.  OMG...stop the presses!!!  There even had to be a public statement by Nancy Pelosi to explain this deceit to the unsuspecting public.

Now if you are anything like me, you probably have put your complete faith in every news report coming out of Washington DC. I would go so far as to say that I believe the mainstream news with the same "pie-in-the-sky" optimism as I once did when my teenage son, Kiddo #2, would tell me he would be home before curfew.  So just imagine the level of my disappointment in learning that a picture of this magnitude of importance wasn't totally accurate.  (Part of me feels the need to point out that is is me being sarcastic..but frankly if you haven't figured that out, you are beyond my help.)

Magically appearing Congress Women

You might be asking why there are other differences.  It wasn't just the four that ended up needing to be digitally inserted.  The photographer had to take multiple shots due to the fact the woman kept filtering in.

I have taken the liberty to clean up the photograph a bit, as well.

Do you have an opinion regarding the original photo being altered?  Do you care????  Do you think the altered photo looks authentic?

You know, I read about this the other day and thought it must have been a very slow news day - no, a completely non-existent news day - if this was a top story. It's not like they Photoshopped women OUT of the picture or anything like that. Well, except for Crabby Pants apparently. :-)

Slow news day is my guess, too. It would have been much more interesting if they had photoshopped in someone getting oral sex.

Much ado about nothing. Such a non issue.

I couldn't believe that the Today Show did an entire segment on it. I was all set to Photoshop Marge Simpson, Wonder Woman, Betty Boop and Daisy Duck into the back row when I got worried about all the copyright infringement. It looked better than the job that the photographer did. What's with the woman on the right side? She looks like shes wearing a clown wig and half hiding.

I was going to do a major Photoshop overhaul just for the fun of it. I didn't think about someone having oral sex. Sheesh...I have no imagination at all!!!!

That is really dumb. They have official pictures of all the members. So what if 4 members are missing from the group shot. This happy group shot on the steps is so staged anyway. I've been to the capitol a few times. Other than special occasions I don't think the members ever use these outside steps.
We would be better served with a more transparent (that's the right buzz word I think) picture. Showing them saying "no" to each other. Staging an arm wrestling contest with the members would be more interesting than this.

The lady in grey stands out like a sore thumb, ugh. I don't know what they were thinking with this, the internet always makes sure missteps like this are uncovered

I'm glad they told us. Only because it stops the bickering that would have happened two months from now, "Well at least I showed up for the photo shoot! Look at the picture, you're not in it!" Now, we all know they weren't there and there's no finger pointing to be had. Besides, this will be the last time they will all be smiling alongside each other. LOL - silly pantsuits!

Dumb seems to be a good word to associate with all of this brouhaha. You make a valid point...they shouldn't look too happy as that isn't realistic. Needs more arguing and general disagreement to be believable.

Cheryl P. said...

Not that I am an expert at Photoshop or anything...even I think, it isn't the most realistic addition. It just looks off kilter in some way. Everyone had to know that the Photoshopping would be common knowledge. You couldn't have 57 women together and there not be some gossiping about the fact that there were 4 no-shows.

Cheryl P. said...

There were some interesting outfits among the group. I thought Conn. Rep. Rosa DeLauro made an interesting fashion choice on left side of the picture.

I am rather surprised that not more has been media attention about the 4 being late. Their constituents need to be informed so they can make sure they have working alarm clocks.

Psssh, next thing you're going to tell me that picture of a dog with a human body was just Photoshop, too.

I don't understand all this need for Photoshopping real pictures. Even just the people that Photoshop their own pictures for Facebook. Yes, how dare you have pores! They look disgusting!

If they are gonna photoshop, they could have at least tamed the fro on the chick in the black and white shirt. She needs a nice blow-out look.

Cheryl P. said...

Oh...I am sure the dog with human body is totally authentic.

I am surprised that you are surprised at the NEED for Photoshop. You live in CO..in the U.S.A. right??? As Americans it is a rule that whatever we get our hands on we overuse it by a gazillion times and if it is something we can buy we need it by the dozens.

Besides that, if there wasn't for Photoshop, I wouldn't be able to put Crabby Pants on the Capitol steps. How sad would that be???

Cheryl P. said...

I thought the same thing. I see several "opportunities" to improve that pic with Photoshop. I think I should send in my resume to be the official Photoshopper for the Administration. Perhaps, I could get some of my blogger friends to write recommendation letters.

Count me among those who don't care who was or wasn't in the photo, or who magically appeared. There are definitely much more important things to be concerned about.

Cheryl P. said...

That was my initial thought when I saw the segment on The Today Show. Why are they even talking about this? Our health care system is in crisis, unemployment and housing market suck, we owe trillions of dollars to everyone and we are concerned if 4 ladies don't get into the picture??? I think we should do like in high school group pictures. Under the picture say so and so wasn't available for the picture. (ya snooze, ya lose)

I don't give a rats ass about the photo being altered unless of course they were to photo shop Julia Gillard into it then I might care that she had ruined the photo but other then that nope don't care....................

Cheryl P. said...

Ha...I gather that Julia Gillard isn't on your list for favorite Prime Minister. I am sorry to say, I know NOTHING about Australian politics so I don't have an opinion. I am glad I didn't Photoshop Julia in the picture instead of Crabby Pants...whewww ...I would of had you upset. If it is any consolation, there are a lot...a whole lot...of American politicians that I think ruin any picture they happen to be in as well.

Bahahahhahahahah! Your version is THE BEST!

XOXOX

Cheryl P. said...

Thanks, Meleah!!!I am glad you liked my new and improved version. I actually had another version all prepared to launch but then got a bit uneasy that it might get me sued...or on a list...and I don't mean the Santa's nice list. So I played it safe and put Crabby Pants back to work.

meleahrebeccah said...

Oh...

Can you email me the more better unpublished version??

PLEASE?!!

Jamie Scully said...

They could of photoshopped a bunch of zombies in and I wouldn't care. I'm glad this was news worthy.

Cheryl P. said...

Oh, Meleah...sorry to say...I deleted it when I realized that I shouldn't use it.

Cheryl P. said...

Photoshopping a few zombies in there would of made it more newsworthy.

Darn! Oh well!
