Fire and Ice

Today most of the people in Kansas City are trying to scoop their way out due to snow storm that rolled through most of the Midwest.  It was a thunder snowstorm which made it somewhat unusual. While digging out driveways with 12+ inches of snow may not be everyone's idea of a good time, we have been in a serious drought for quite a long time.  At this point, any precipitation is a GOOD thing.   I have found it rather amusing,  with the non-stop weather reports, that all the stations keep showing us the various weather cams around town.

This weather camera is looking toward Country Club Plaza.

Looking at downtown KC

They should put Crabby Pant's snowman on the news.

Dog Gone Funny

A few policeman are under investigation in West Midlands, England for filling out a witness statement form.  The problem started when  officers became exasperated because  prosecutors asked them numerous times to get a witness statement from PC Peach.  The officers responded by telling Crown Prosecution Services that that would be difficult to get PD (not PC) Peach to fill out a witness statement. While PD Peach is very intelligent, the PD stands for Police Dog.

Again the CPS insisted that they get a written statement. Somewhere the message wasn't getting across.   So the officers filled one out on behalf
of  PC Peach.

The West Midland Police found the whole thing funny and posted pictures of the Witness statement on both Facebook and Twitter.  The CPS didn't find it funny at all and felt like they were being made the punchline of a joke. Now the matter is being investigated  by  the Professional Standards Department who had just set some new guidelines regarding use of the Internet and advising officers not to share "operational materials" on line.  (Oopsie...bad timing)

Two things are very clear:

1. The Crown Prosecution Service doesn't have any sense of humor.
2. PD Peach is a good boy.... a really good boy, and quite cute as well

If You Won A Lottery What Would You Buy?

Two brothers in Wichita, Kansas were celebrating their good fortune.  They had won $75,000 from the Kansas Lottery and purchased enough drugs to raise the roof.
One of the brothers went into the kitchen of their home to refuel the butane torches that they were using to light their bongs.  According to Sgt. Bruce Watts of the Wichita Police Department, "The butane vapor reached the pilot light in the furnace, and as you might expect ka-boom." The boys managed to blow up part of the house.

One brother had burns to his hands, arms and torso and was taken to the emergency room by his girlfriend.
The other brother was visited by the police department and taken to jail. There was marijuana and methamphetamine in the home...or at least what was left of the home.

It would seem that the brothers were both.... winners and losers.

Mall Cops

Florida police said they arrested a pair of teenagers accused of using an iPhone app to imitate police lights and pull over motorists near a mall.

Naples police said an officer patrolling the parking lot of the Coastland Center Mall in Naples just prior to 7 p.m. saw a tan Ford Ranger pickup flashing red and blue lights behind another vehicle and recognized the driver as Ryan McMahon Schulze, 19, who is not in law enforcement, the Naples Daily News reported Wednesday.

The officer stopped the truck and Schulze and passenger Matthew Levi Davis, 18, said they "were just messing around" while waiting for a friend who worked at the mall.

The teenagers said they were using an iPhone app called "Police Lights" to mimic emergency lights and a text message found on Davis' phone said, "Another person pulled over," the police report stated.

Schulze was arrested on a  charge of impersonating an officer and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of blue lights.
Davis was arrested on the same charges as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

There is an app for that.

I like the police dog's written statement, but clearly it is a fake. The real one would simply say, "Arf arf arf bark bark arf."

I love how they make reporters trundle out into shitty weather to tell us the obvious. "It's still snowing like hell!" No, really? I don't have a window or anything.

I suspect most prosecutors that have worked anytime at all have lost their sense of humor. Most but not all...one of our good friends in St. Louis worked as a city prosecutor and was really FUNNY plus he had the greatest stories.

Some people shouldn't win money the just waste it............I could do so much more with that type of money.................as for the weather it is best to get up look outside and decide what it is yourself weather people are using so much high tech stuff and get it wrong so much of the bloody time.............as for the fools pulling people over with the fake cop lights well it may sound like a bit of fun but if in the wrong hands it could be a deadly app............

Yeh, total wast of a lottery win. And you are right...best to look out the window rather than hope that the forecast is right.
I am rather surprised that those apps don't have some type of disclaimer saying there may be laws concerning their use.

Seems like there are more aps for useless things than useful ones.
And speaking of useless- love those webcams!

How ridiculous is it that after reading this post I want three things.
1. a hot toddy.
2. to adopt that adorable PD Peach.
3. to download that app and take PD Peach with me on a ride along to wreak havoc on downtown Salt Lake City.

The night is young!!!! Who's with me???

*crickets*

What no takers??? I would be right over if I lived in Salt Lake City. What could be more fun than cruising around with PD and Vapid Vixen. Surely it would be WAAAYYY more fun than being snowed in in KC. (PD Peach is pretty darn cute, don't ya think?)

I doubt that the guys working at the station that were doing the cut aways to the remote cameras even thought about the cameras being covered with snow. I thought it was pretty funny but I don't think any one else even noticed. I am such a nerd.

Kansas looks remarkably like Canada right now! Hope you're staying warm :-)

I am staying indoors but only because I have a really bad cold right now. My husband's working up near you and he tells me it is much colder there. We are just wimps down here.

I am still super jealous of ANYONE with snow like that. I've been praying for a blizzard all winter and all I keep getting is rain. I believe I've only had a total of 6 inches of snow all season. Grr…

Um… The Crown Prosecution Service needs to LIGHTEN up!

I can't get over those two dumbasses. Way to blow yourselves up with drugs after winning the lottery. MORONS!

Once again, Florida is the gift that keeps on giving. But for real, why IS there an app like that anyway?

Hey, girlfriend...hop on a plane and get over to KC. A second wave of snow is due to hit tomorrow night. That first snowfall was 15 inches and several more are supposedly on the way. I have a guest room with your name on it.
I agree...how could they NOT find that funny???
Some people just are clueless. To win 75K and piss it away...what a waste.
Funny that nearly every week the best stories are out of Florida. I am beginning to think there is something chemical down there that impairs logical thought. I thought the same thing about the app. You would think there would at least be a disclosure that it is illegal to use it to stop motorists.

If only I wasn't afraid to fly! I'd be there in a heartbeat!

LOL *happy dance* You used Peach and the idiot brothers!!! =)

Peach is awesome! And his signature could teach some doctors a thing or two! =)

I'm just getting caught up on blogs after our trip to Cali this last weekend....so sorry this is late. =) xo

Welcome back. Hope the trip was fun!!! Yes, I used your Peach story and idiot brothers stories.I had seen the house blowing up story as well but I hadn't seen the Peach story. You always see the best stories before I do. This week I am just doing a couple stories related to the Kansas City weather, so I didn't ever look at all the stupid news stories. If you hear of any really good ones this week let me know.

Been a pretty slow week for the stupid this week. Wait...I vaguely remember seeing something about a Flori-duh story when we were in the airports....something about a guy who was shot by his dog. Might want to look that one up. =) If I see anything else, though, you'll be the first. =) <3

Why am I not surprised it was Flori-duh? I will be sure to look it up.
