Music Helps Put the Merry Into the Season

Here we are.... just two days away from Christmas.  While there are a lot of things I enjoy about the holiday season, one of my VERY favorite things is Christmas music.  LOVE IT!

I might be not within the normal range on this.  (Normal is a subjective word in most instances with me.) Here in Kansas City, there used to be 9 radio stations that played around-the-clock Holiday music.  Now there is ONE.  One lonely little station that plays Christmas music.

I, however, am not to be deterred. I have an embarrassingly large collection of Christmas CDs.   They have been playing pretty much non-stop since my "can't start being Christmasy until December" rule kicked in.

SOOOO on the outside chance you haven't had quite enough  Christmas music, I have posted a few to help bring you  up to your "ENOUGH ALREADY!!" level.  The first video is  of  one of the Christmas songs from  the Straight No Chaser Christmas Cheer album.  I think it is a really fun song that incorporates the joy of the season.

A FUN ONE

A NEW ONE

I think this one is pretty.  Lindsey was one of the contestants on the X Factor in 2010. She released this video this year.

Flash Mob for Christmas??? Perhaps you have seen this as it has gone viral on the Internet but it does contain a  lot of the more traditional music. At over 5 minutes long, it still is a very heart warming mix of holiday music.

AN IMPROMPTU ONE

Well, we agree on this ... the Christmas music does cure the crabbies. Muri and I spent a good part of the drive over to AZ listening. But my internet connection here in AZ is so bad, i can't get through about more than about ten seconds of your videos. I'm going to rest the router and restart the modem but I'm commenting now just in case. have a very Merry Christmas, Cheryl. It's been fun blogging with you.

Agreed...music puts some of the Merry into the Merry Christmas. It's been fun blogging with you as well. Hope to make it into next year if I don't run out of things to talk about.

Sorry but I am a total scrooge in this area, because my two stations to turn to for cheesy 80s music have now BOTH become Xmas-only stations for more than six weeks of the year. And that really sucks, when I need a Chicago fix.

I see your point if both of your stations change to Christmas music, leaving you without options. Our one and only station that went to Christmas music wasn't one that I previously listend to. My 3 favorite Kansas City stations are programming as ususal. I am not listening to them as I am psychotic about Christmas music but I appreciate if you need a Chicago fix...you should be able to get a Chicago fix.

Thanks for sharing your favorites Cheryl. I have a station I listen to and I don't care if it's the same line up year after year. I love it! I just got done wrapping. Got the shopping done. Now for cleaning and breaking into a little "cheer". Merry Christmas my good friend. Wishing you the best of everything!

My favorite Christmas song is "Baby It's Cold Outside," because it's so clearly about sexual assault. I don't know how I hadn't noticed it before, but listen to that song again and tell me he isn't singing about assaulting her.

"I simply must go
But baby it's cold outside
The answer is no
But baby it's cold outside
My sister will be suspicious
Gosh your lips look delicious!
My brother will be there at the door
Waves upon a tropical shore
My maiden aunts mind is vicious
Gosh your lips are delicious"

i just love flash mobs! this one actually made me tear up. it's just something about how all of the people who weren't involved with the mob stop to clap and join in with the singing, when they would have previously never connected in any way. it's awesome!

Yay for the team that likes Christmas music!!!! You could never be a sap though. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.

Oh, Leah, just about any Christmas music would make my favorite list. We have already had our first go round of Christmas with my daughter's family and we will have round two this evening...and "real" Christmas tomorrow. I person really needs to get in shape for this holiday.

Wishing you the best for this holiday season and throughout the coming year, my friend.

I really like that song as well. Funny though...reading the lyrics vs hearing the music/song has me realizing that song is more that a bit twisted. WTF..he's making out with someone while his brother is standing at the door and his maiden aunts have dirty minds. Why didn't I ever notice those lyrics.

I agree. I typically don't put long videos on my posts but that one just moved me. I would love to be somewhere that something like that would happen. You put it perfectly...the people connected. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for stopping by. Merry Christmas!!!

Wendy, I swear I left a reply to your comment but it isn't showing up. This may be more of the "blips" associated with my commenting system.

The Straight With No Chaser album Christmas Cheer is really pretty fun.

You are right about there are always new things and unusual things happening but isn't it odd, that sometimes when you want to write a post...nothing comes to mind.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Wendy. I hope to connect with you often in 2013.

I agree...I like the group whether they are singing Christmas music or not. Very cool sound. I saw an interview with them a year or so ago and they seem like really nice/fun guys.
